Garrison School 8th graders make Sesame Garlic Broccoli with Glynwood veggies

Chef Laurie Gershgorn from Healthy Culinary Creations is the Garrison School's new Chef in the Classroom. Last Thursday, she came in and taught the the 8th graders how to make Sesame Garlic Broccoli served over brown rice. The fresh broccoli, garlic and basil was generously donated from Glynwood farm.

Chef Laurie handed out the recipe and divided the classes into teams so everyone was able to participate.

While one team chopped, another team prepared the dressing.

Once the broccoli was cooked, the students added it to the brown rice and sampled their creation.

There was a lot of enthusiasm for seconds.

If other students would like to try this yummy dish, luckily, it will be served for the entire school on Tuesday, October 9th as part of the PTA's Hot Lunch program.
